The story of Victory Park began in 1941 with the construction of a dam on the Svislach River, which created Komsomolskoye Lake.
The official opening of the lake was scheduled for June 22, 1941. However, on that very day, World War II reached Belarus, and the planned celebration never took place.
For many years, locals referred to the area simply as the park by Komsomolskoye Lake. Following a large-scale renovation completed between 2008 and 2011, the park received its current name - Victory Park.
In 1985, the “Minsk Hero City” monument was installed near the main entrance to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Victory in World War II.
After reconstruction, the park expanded from approximately 100 hectares to 200 hectares and became one of the most modern recreational spaces in Minsk.
In 2013, it officially became part of the Victory Museum and Park Complex.
